On-line historical databases

For local historians a key development in the last ten years or so is the digitisation and publication on the Internet of collections of historical data. Add to this the work done by The National Archives and local record offices (for example, Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies) as well as key providers of secondary material (e.g. the British Library) in making available their catalogues on-line.

On this page we wish to draw members' attention to the some of the principal sources for historical study, both at a national level and also locally to St Albans and its neighbourhood.
