Herts at War Talks 2018

Free talks about First World War military history

The organisers of the 'Herts at War' project are pleased to be able to continue their successful series of military talks by experts in the Great War. They are on the third Wednesday of each month at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. These talks will bring together some of the foremost military historians from throughout the United Kingdom for a series covering a wide range of subjects relating to the Great War.

These are the talks:

18 April 2018 – ‘The East African Campaign’ – Dr Stuart Mitchell

16 May 2018 - 'The Palestine Campaign' – Stuart Hadaway

13 June 2018 – ‘The US in the Great War’ – Prof. Sir Hew Strachan

18 July 2018 – ‘The Royal Army Medical Corps in the Great War’ – Dr Jessica Meyer

15 August 2018 – ‘The Defeat of the German Army in the West’ – Col Jack Sheldon


  • You will need a car park pass and this is sent to those who have booked the weekend before the talk, if not contact jontywild@hertsatwar.co.uk.
  • The talks and a glass of wine or fruit juice are free but, if you appreciate what you hear, please make a donation.
  • Talks will commence at 7.30pm with doors open from 7pm.
